Am I embarrassing?

My DP's son is 18, he has been with his girlfriend for 2+ years now. His girlfriend is round his quite a lot so spends so much time with his mum's side of the family. My DP has met her a few times without me. I have never met her, he has no intentions of me ever meeting her, not that I've asked him out right but his father has asked when he's bringing her round to ours and he always replies with is that she's busy. DP has said that his girlfriend is really polite and my DPs daughter has said that his sons girlfriend is desperate to meet us.

Now.... I feel like he is ashamed of me because I'm 15 years younger than his dad, although you'd never really think to look at us, I'd say we look more 10 years apart. It's secretly gotten to me tonight that he doesn't like me. His girlfriend gets along great with his mum and her boyfriend and I just feel a bit of an embarrassment.

Anyone had any similar stories or any opinions on this...

TBF, teenagers find having to introduce there partners quite awkward and embarrassing anyway.
I doubt its anything to do with age, unless he's said something previously that made you think that?

Do you often take offence, or react to things as if they're "about" you? This seems like a bizarre conclusion to come to based on the scenario as you've described it here.

I honestly don't mean to sound rude but I find it a bit weird that you're so desperate to meet your stepson's partner. As a PP has said teenagers often find the whole introductions thing embarrassing - especially if it's a planned thing and not just a bumping into each other type of thing. I think the age gap is probably something you think about a lot more than other people do. I'm sure he's not embarrassed of you Smile
