My 4yr old DS used my iPhone as a paddle. AIBU to be shocked soaking it in rice actually worked!

I am genuinely shocked, the Home Screen touch commands were unresponsive, Siri sounded drunk and it wouldn't switch off.. I had hunted my old IPhone out as I was sure it was done for. But no... plugged it back in this morning after a night in the best dry risotto rice and all seems good. 🤞I'm now curious to see what other 'hacks' I have raised an eyebrow to may actually be witchcraft and not old wives tales!

Taps not tops!

HappydaysArehere · 23/05/2021 10:01

Well done. Fantastic news. Just shows you where there is rice there is hope.

SherryPalmer · 23/05/2021 10:03

Another bath one is using toothpaste to take off the coloured marks some toys can leave on the bath. Works like magic.

Chiwi · 23/05/2021 10:03

@lidoshuffle are you serious? I am excitedly searching for a 2p now!

PennyRoyal · 23/05/2021 10:04

I save all the little Silica Gel packets you get in parcels. These are supposed to be even better than rice in a wet phone situation!

Boxerbinky · 23/05/2021 10:07

I'm putting together an emergency box which will now include 2p's, toothpaste and silica gel..

Rubbing a gold ring on a stay. There are loads of groups on Facebook for these hacks op.

dementedpixie · 23/05/2021 10:18

I dont think you actually need rice. It would likely have dried out just fine without it. Hope there's no rice dust stuck in any of the phone's orifices

LagneyandCasey · 23/05/2021 10:19

I tried a dishwasher tab on the oven door glass and the solid baked on crap on the bottom of the oven. It works like magic!

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 23/05/2021 10:42

How do you use a 2p? We have crusty limescale that I can't get off!

lidoshuffle · 23/05/2021 10:57

@AintNobodyHereButUsChickens
Just use the edge to rub over the build up. Even big lumps will come off and (with care) you can use it on enamel, which you can't with many acidic proprietary cleaners.

Three more things for your kit: Dry-wipe pen, sawdust and talc.

If you use permanent marker by mistake on a wipeable surface, go over it with a dry-wipe pen and it will come off.

Sprinkle sawdust over vomit. It will sweep up and take the smell away. (I'm told cat litter also works).

Sprinkle talc on sandy feet and the sand just brushes off.

@CloudyGladys noted!!
