Thanks for update! How do they find they are trolls? Why do they bother starting these threads!

I never get with mundane but sort of wholesome-ly entertaining ones like that what the troll is getting out of it!

Attention I think... Everyone asking for updates and making them feel popular.

How on earth could they be discovered as being a troll? Other threads not matching up?

She started another thread saying she wasn't a troll and wanted the thread reinstated. That she valued the support.
That probably went poof too, even though she seemed genuine.

"I've got a crush on a colleague, what shall I do?" threads are marvellous troll fodder. People get invested quickly, there's the daily wait for an update, lots of cheerleading and a nice little ratcheting up of tension. I've seen dozens of them on MN. Sometimes they read very much like the plot of a very shit novel.

I read the opening post of the most recent one (assuming it was the "not my normal type, he's shy, hoping for a cheeky kiss" one) and immediately hid it.

The "cheeky kiss" was ludicrous and didn't fit with the rest of her personality, I am not surprised to hear it was a troll.....but still opened this thread hoping it was an update...

I want to know what happened to the older millionaire boyfriend thread. I don't seem to get delegation messages anymore, just threads disappearing even if you have contributed

I'm glad it was a troll. The OP was making me angry with the dithering. I did wonder how anyone could be so wet in real life.

Why so much interest? None of the OP's of the aforementioned threads seem to have had the original thread on their watch list 😕

@TeachesOfPeaches are you talking about the one were she was worried about her ds as he didnt like her new older rich bf?

I once read that when a thread pulls at your heart strings enough or gets you so invested that it makes want to keep checking back then it's likely fake. I noticed I was coming back for this thread and thought she's leaving every update on a cliff hanger and I did have my suspicions... wasn't surprised when it was pulled

Mind you they pulled one of mine last week which was a really sensitive subject but genuine and it was pulled but really it was my fault for posting it on a new account rather than my established one... I had two accounts and that's naughty apparently so now I've just got this one. The thread I started was genuine. They said my posting history wasn't consistent but tbf my mental health is sketchy, I have days when I'm really doing well, and days when I'm the total opposite. I have adhd and I will change details here and there because I'm so worried of being noticed in real life. I have a great job and then sometimes I'm feeling so overwhelmed I want to jump off a building so I can see how my posting can look erratic.

Oh and even though I had used separate emails they knew I had other accounts I guess from the IP address

I think they said it was "causing problems in real life" and no longer helping OP. I guess people were being honest and it was upsetting her.

Ops writing style on that thread didn't make sense and I did wonder if it was real.

Does anyone know what happened to that thread about a woman leaving her husband? She'd bought a house and was slowly moving out while he was playing golf?
