How far in advance should you purchase wedding dress?

I’m due to give birth in November, wedding is next June but will need time to lose weight. I think I’ve been watching too much say yes to the dress where the designers think 3 months is too short a time and now I’m panicking!

Aibu to start looking while pregnant and just get it taken in?

It depends where you buy from. Lots of bridal 'boutiques' will tell you they need 6-9 months lead time and then time for alterations. Though mine told me this and then it actually turned up within 3 months, typical. Some will expedite the order for an additional fee.

My SIL got a lovely dress from wed2be which was you buy and take it away on the day type thing, if you feel like that could be an option. Just limits the range of dresses you're shopping from.

So you’re about 3 or 4 months at the moment? Yep. Have a look now. Depends if you want to order one or buy off the rack. But worth getting an idea now.

Well. If you want one from a bridal shop where it’s ordered you’ll need 20 weeks.

A sample shop you can buy a dress previously used to try on in store so you get the actual dress but this is best if you’re a size 10-12 as most samples are a size 12.

If buying retail from a ‘normal’ shop but their bridal range then a couple of weeks before will be fine.
