Long term singles - do you cuddle something at night?

Lone parent, my children are finally at the stage where they stay and sleep in their own beds so no little bodies to cuddle up with. My dog is old and likes his own space nowadays. Am I mad to consider buying a big teddy or something?! Sometimes I find myself holding my own hand in bed and pretending it’s someone else holding mine Blush am I going bananas or is this normal?!

Nope, I give thanks that I have the bed to myself at last. I didn’t cuddle my husband when I was sleeping either (when I had one). The dog does borrow the end of the bed but he doesn’t want to be cuddled all night.

However if you want a big teddy you get one... the joy of being single, it’s no one else’s business!

I don't - but there is no reason why you should not do exactly what you want to.

I used to hug a pillow and put another pillow behind me when I was single for years. Do what works for you.

pollylocketpickedapocket · 20/05/2021 07:32

No I don’t do this, never considered it either!

ZoeMaye · 20/05/2021 07:34

You sound lonely. Do you want to be single?

Hughbert · 20/05/2021 07:34

No, but I'm not an inbed cuddler of anything, animate or otherwise. If it would make you happy, go for it.

bonbonours · 20/05/2021 07:34

I can't sleep cuddling or touching anyone. But each to their own, if you would feel comfortable with a teddy or something why not, it's your bedroom, do what you like.

I have a ‘comfort teddy’ that has slept in my bed since I was 7. I don’t hold it but sleep worse when it’s not in the bed (like when I forget packing it for a work trip). I think my next step will be a cat.

Jobsharenightmare · 20/05/2021 07:36

My other half has always had a teddy comforter for when I'm not there. Do what you need to do OP!

I have a small cushion it’s ideal to support my neck when reading in bed, or to relieve aches or pressure but it’s also soft enough to be a good cuddle item
