DH works in the bedroom upstairs. He types on the keyboard all day... bang bang bang is all i hear downstairs. Keyboard is on a wooden desk - does anyone know how to stop the noise travelling downstairs? It’s driving me fucking crazy.
Bang bang bang... bang bang bang... bang bang.... bang bang bang bang bang bang

Buy a large mouse mat that can go meet the keyboard.

mineofuselessinformation · 19/05/2021 12:13

Bugger! under

imnottoofussed · 19/05/2021 12:24

or get a quiet keyboard

Curiosity101 · 19/05/2021 12:30

Definitely get a nice thick gaming desk mat and if he has a mechanical keyboard ask him if he'd be willing to change it. Mechanical keyboards are really really loud.

SnarkyBag · 19/05/2021 12:31

Yes gaming mouse mat is the answer

Monkeymilkshake · 19/05/2021 12:43

Ok i’ll try the mat thank you!

A folded towel will do the trick in the meantime!

00100001 · 19/05/2021 12:46

Towel for now!

lms2017 · 19/05/2021 12:50

Send him a link on how to touch type !! Not bang bang bang

GlitterBicuits · 19/05/2021 12:53

Desk on a rug to deaden noise and vibration too

Tomnooktoldmeto · 19/05/2021 13:06

Microsoft do quiet keyboard and mouse sets and as others have said gaming mouse mat as well

We had to get all of these when lockdown started as DD is noise phobic (severe Misophonia) DH and DS are noisy beggars and this was the better option than death

It’s worked with both of them so hopefully will help you

Im sorry for laughing but this description is just brilliant... I can almost hear him too 😂

3scape · 19/05/2021 15:15

You can get a mat, add rubber feet to the keyboard AND desk AND add a rug under the desk. Hopefully that should absorb the vibrations! Poor keyboard!

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 19/05/2021 15:19

Send him on a typing course? Sounds like his technique is a bit heavy handed ;)

IShouldntPostBut · 19/05/2021 15:56

I used to use a very clicky keyboard. It had to be annoying to my DP. I've moved on to a VERY quiet keyboard, with backlit keys, and everyone's happier!

As above, lots of layers of insulation - and tell him to keep the door shut!

Monkeymilkshake · 19/05/2021 19:15

Ok thanks all! Mats, rugs, new keyboard! I’m on it. Honestly drives me crazy. Thanks so much for recommendations!
And glad i made you laugh PunkSatinMoon
