I’ve got long term health issues as this week is the last week I have to submit a project for uni that I’ve worked really hard to try and do. Looking forward to the 4 days off from my son who is very very hard work. So this morning he’s coughing, a lot . Barely a fever but what can you do? So he’s at home with me now Iv e ordered test. He won’t let me work so that’s me working through the night instead all week which will send me loopy / depressed /anxious and exacerbate my health issue but I have no choice. Anyway , desperate to get my hands on some medicines for DS I ordered a 40 quid Morrison’s shop through Amazon. Didn’t need any groceries at all as I’ve just had one delivered but I couldn’t think of any other way to get hold of the stuff. No friends/ no family can’t leave the house. Guess what ? Delivered everything except the medicines . Does this mean they are out of stock and I’d be wasting my time and money to try again? Fees a bit like the worlds against me today.

How annoying 😔 That’s so typical. my son has developed a cough too so has to stay off school now as do they other two! I wouldn’t order again as I take it that means out of stock, do you have deliveroo or uber in your area as they have the coop/Morrison’s/ Sainsbury’s on there

SparklyLeprechaun · 17/05/2021 11:26

Was there something very specific that you were ordering? Because you can order Calpol/Nurofen/cough syrup and such on Amazon with same day/next day delivery, no need for a grocery order.

Yes we are in a a big town so we have all that stuff. Thanks for the suggestion I’ll open an account now. Probably get some energy drinks too to get this work finished over night. Sorry you’re in the same boat. Which we could just pay for someone to turn up at the door and do those instant tests! The childcare money I’ve wasted because of covid is insane , must be running into the thousands now. The only place he and I have been is the school and back too, so if people are merrily sending their kid in with colds etc then it’s really unfair.

Deliveroo here has Lloyds pharmacy on it, so definitely worth signing up and checking if you can order medicines through that.
Sorry your week has gone so pear-shaped.

Thank you! I only came here to moan but I have a practical solution now. You’re a wonderful bunch Flowers

I had the same a couple of weeks ago trying to get calpol for my daughter. None of the Deliveroo / Uber eats groceries will deliver medicine.

Principessa2070 · 17/05/2021 11:57

No I'm sorry but he doesn't have a say in when you work. Discipline your child fgs.

Dahlietta · 17/05/2021 12:27

I can't tell if Principessa is serious!!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 17/05/2021 12:30

Also try a shout out on Facebook or calling your local pharmacy. Both options here would work and someone would be happy to help out and deliver what we needed.

Bonheurdupasse · 17/05/2021 12:34

Agree with @Principessa2070 - you need to put your foot down strongly

BestOption · 17/05/2021 12:36

Try calling local pharmacies. Ours are doing deliveries for prescription and I'm sure they'd deliver on their run to someone in your situation.

If he's got what ive got (some random cold/virus that's going around school) the headaches are horrible and the exhaustion...

I live alone, but if I had someone here, I'd be miserable & clingy too!!

Hope he's better soon

Sock

Yep, putting your foot down with an unwell child. Brilliant advice 🙄🙄

Ilovenutellaaaaa · 17/05/2021 12:41

Op I don't know if the local taxis do it there but here you can call a taxi and ask them to go collect what you want from the shop, e.g food/takeaway/medicine etc and they bring it to your house and you pay them for the price of the taxi ride and for the items...maybe that would be an option for you?

Bonheurdupasse · 17/05/2021 12:42

He’s not letting OP work.
That needs to be stopped from happening.
OP make a schedule, he can bother you once an hour, and no more.

Alfaix · 17/05/2021 12:44

It surely depends on the age etc of the child? A 2 year old - no chance. An 8 year old can be told, firmly.
I guess it depends if they have SEN also?

You don't even know how old the child is?! Confused
Lyricallie · 17/05/2021 12:56

There might be a community phone line you can call I was volunteering for ours when it all started last year. We had volunteers on stand by to pick up things for shielding and isolating people. Maybe check on Facebook for your area?

Nats1984 · 17/05/2021 13:02

He’s 4 . Deaf. Speech delayed and I suspect something else as he’s a terrible sleeper. For context I guess he’s more like a 2.5/ 3 year old. It’s not manageable to do what I do with him around I’ve tried before and we both got upset.
