To think that this isn't normal

Hello all,

So as lockdown is lifting and eating so much crap prior, I thought I'lll make a start to eat more healthy, particularly curbing my addiction to fizzy drinks/juices and drink more water.

So I bought one of those two litre water bottles (to get myself to drink more water) and for the past week, I have been drinking two litres everyday. The problem that I have now is that I always feel full, I don't want to eat because my stomach just always feels tight. Is this normal? I know several people who drink two litres a day and don't have an issue with eating and being hungry. The good news is that I don't snack as much! But still, is this normal?!

Yes it’s normal :) your body will readjust soon

AnneLovesGilbert · 16/05/2021 21:16

How much were you drinking before? Are you weeing enough? Drinking too fast?

I drink more than two litres a day and lots of coffee and don’t get this but I wee about once an hour.

shouldistop · 16/05/2021 21:17

Yes. Sometimes thirst can be confused for hunger so you probably just didn't need the snacks before, you just needed more water

Now to follow my own advice....

Accidentallydeletedoopsss · 16/05/2021 21:17

I wouldn’t have thought so as 2 litres over the course of a day really isn’t much!
Are you drinking much before meals?

Honestly? I would drink water about once a week. But I loved juice. I wee roughly once every 2-3 hours.

It's normal and your body will get used to it x

iliveinhope24 · 16/05/2021 21:20

Ok. So should I continue to drink two litres a day? I stopped today as I was worried and I was hardly eating.

Oh blimey. Well your body is still adjusting and I’m sure it’ll settle down. Take it slow and build up if that helps.

shouldistop · 16/05/2021 21:22

Unless you're underweight or the lower end of normal bmi then I wouldn't worry about a reduced appetite for a little while.

midnightstar66 · 17/05/2021 06:29

Going from drinking very little to 2 litres it would be pretty normal.'and as above unless you are underweight or close I'd see this as a benefit.
