To ask for recommendations for an OTC tooth whitening product that actually whitens teeth that weren't white to begin with?

I can't seem to find one. Just finished a £15 tube of toothpaste that did nothing.

I've heard very good things about Crest Whitening Strips.

Will watch this thread with interest anyway!

My hygienist told me on Friday it was too soon for tooth whitening but recommended Colgate complete expert as it contains hydrogen peroxide.

Hi @Mellonsprite
Sorry, I don't follow. Too soon for teeth whitening??

eatsleepread · 16/05/2021 17:48

Aah, I think you mean straight after your hygienist appointment.

Dr George's is brilliant, really works and no sensitivity. Have to order online though.

HugeAckmansWife · 16/05/2021 17:49

there's a thing about this is the Times on Saturday - basically, none of the home remedies are worth it. They either don't do anything or contain dangerous levels of peroxide that will damage the enamel.

Nothing that's available OTC is legally allowed to contain enough of the bleaching product, it's all a waste of money. Order some Cresta White Stripe from ebay. They work. I'd recommend brushing your teeth with sensodyne or similar for a few days before use though, as they can make even non sensitive teeth sensitive.

Try pearl drops. I found it was really good.

Shmithecat2 · 16/05/2021 18:16

Pearl drops has a minor abrasive , so whilst it will remove stains, it won't lighten the natural colour of the enamel.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have tried Pearl Drops to not much effect. Will look into Dr George’s.
