AIBU?

To wonder why people think people are detained more then they are

Dd 19 was recently detained in hospital after an attempt. The health care assistant told her this was quite common. This was in the medical hospital as dd was placed on one to one before transfer to the psych unit. Dd has made multiple attempts before aibu to think it’s not really common and really is a last resort as it should be.

Hmmm, it’s not that uncommon either. I think around 60,000 people are sectioned every year in the U.K. The health assistant might have been referring to odds of being sectioned for people with your DDs condition? Or the fact that it is common to be sectioned after multiple suicide attempts? At any rate, I found it reassuring to be told I wasn’t a complete freak of nature when I was sectioned. Knowing that many others have been in same situation and therefore they know how to help me was good to hear.

I’ve been sectioned twice but have had more than ten suicide attempts in the last 12 months and not been detained in any of those circumstances. It’s all pointless anyway, you come out the same as when you go in!

Sorry that. You’ve been through this. Hope you are well now.
