can you move?

i think its fine, go for it!!

Sparklesocks · 15/05/2021 19:38

Do you mean ‘too big’ because you don’t think you’re fit enough to do a game, or aesthetically/netball isn’t ‘for’ overweight people?

If it’s the latter I don’t think it should hold you back. Everyone has to start somewhere.

HappyRaven · 15/05/2021 19:41

Go for it!

newnortherner111 · 15/05/2021 19:43

You should play.

Skigal86 · 15/05/2021 19:45

If you’re unsure about your fitness, maybe look into walking netball as a starting point.

thesugarbumfairy · 15/05/2021 19:47

Go for it. As long as you can move around the court and fling a netball why not?

Scarby9 · 15/05/2021 19:50

Someone today was telling me she pays walking netball - same rules, except no running or jumping allowed, just speedy walking.
It sonded like a great way back for me because I don't think I am fit enough for the real game currently.
You may be fit enough, OP, or maybe look out for the walking version to ease your way back in if you need to.

Cookiedough123 · 15/05/2021 19:53

Absolutely not! You only have to do so much. I play with a back to netball group once a week and it's full of ladies all shapes and sizes!

Shockedmama · 15/05/2021 19:58

Thanks! I am definitely fit enough to run I do a lot of walking and diy. I just feel so self concious and am going on my own and am filled with thoughts I’ll get there and they will all think I’m too big! Even worried about a tabard not going over!

OP posts:
DaisyDreaming · 15/05/2021 20:02

I bet most people there felt self conscious about something when they first joined

Livingmybestlifenow · 15/05/2021 20:07

Go for it, either walking netball or back to netball. It’s a brilliant way to get fitter and you’ll make friends easily. Just take it easy to start with because netball is harsh on knees and ankles and the last thing you want is an avoidable injury!

Amdone123 · 15/05/2021 20:29

Go for it. You'll have a great time, I'm sure. If you don't go, you'll be always wondering what it would have been like.
I'd love to play netball again, so thanks for the reminder.

Donotspeaktome · 15/05/2021 20:30

I used to play against a very large shooter and she was amazing! Also against am older team who absolutely thrashed us even though they barely moved. There is absolutely no reason you can't play, maybe just don't choose Centre or WA!

aiwblam · 15/05/2021 20:31

The tabard will go over, for sure.
Choose GS/GK to start off with. Plenty of rests between action.

aiwblam · 15/05/2021 20:32

How tall are you?

Marble2302 · 15/05/2021 20:43

It's sad you even have to ask this. If you want to play netball go for it!
