My renewal pack came and our overall income seemed very high, and my husband said it couldn’t be right and he got his p60 and it was £3000 more than we actually earn! I phoned up to query it and turned out when I reported that I started getting carers allowance a few months back I mistakenly gave a figure of £18000 (it’s actually £15000) I don’t know what was going on in my head, you know what it’s like taking these phone calls with kids in the background! And so that’s what they have been paying us based on, plus the carers allowance. The advisor corrected it over the phone and said it is now renewed based on the right figure and to expect a new award notice in the post. My worry is, will I get a fine for giving incorrect information? I have got very anxious about this. Anyone been in a similar situation/worked in TC know what will likely happen?

No you won't get a fine

Littlebluebird123 · 15/05/2021 15:56

It'll be fine. You have now corrected it and they'll send out a new letter with the correct I do.
I don't believe they'll fine. Often you have to give an idea of what you'll earn but you don't know until the end of the financial year anyway so it's a frequent occurrence.

As the other ladies have said you will be fine,Dont worry about it,

No, you won't get a fine.

Any underpayment from last year will probably be added to this year's TCs, although I have known them pay it in a lump sum.
