To not agree with this man that surge testing will cause false positives

He said if you surge test a population you will get many positive tests.

You will. Because there are always false positives. Test more people, get more false positives. The rate of false positives won't change though.

Well you’d still get the same rate if false positives (pretty low really) as you would regardless of the number of tests done, so the number will be higher the more you do. But it’s likely worth it to pick up on the true positives which is the important bit.

Cause, no. But more will happen because the number of instances is dependent on number of tests conducted. But the rate shouldn't increase.

Cause is a very specific word in science, and I'm not sure your title is what you mean?

The rate of false positives won't change but the ratio of true:false will decrease if you test more people and if infection rates are low.
