AIBU neighbour's builder peeing in street

Hi all,
For context, our house is in a row of terraces that face out onto a fenced off area that is owned by network rail.

This morning at around 8:30 I had the pleasure of watching a man have a wee against the fence directly in front of my house (not my fence, and separated from the pavement by a narrow road). I then watched the man walk three houses down to the end of the terrace, and walk into a house that has recently been bought by new owners and is in the process of being completely gutted and refurbished (as a side note, the vans have been blocking half the road for several weeks now, which is annoying because it makes turning round a faff (no thru road) and has stopped the garden waste bins being collected, but that is basically a minor inconvenience and not the point of my question).

I wanted to ask our neighbourhood WhatsApp group for the new owner's contact details so that I could shoot them a quick email and tell them - if there were builders in my house and they did something like that on a residential street, I'd want to know about it. Also shouldn't there be a portaloo or something or working toilet in the house they're working on!? They're there all day!?

Anyway, my husband said he didn't care and that I was being a busybody (maybe I am?) And that I would sour the relationship with the new neighbours before they had even moved in. My question is, WIBU to consider contacting the new owners to tell them what had happened? Would you want to know if the men you had employed didn't have access to a toilet? And most importantly, should I just get a life and leave it alone!?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Jesus. What do they do when they need a poo?!

threeteenstaximum · 14/05/2021 20:58

They should have a toilet for builders available if they are working on the house

Peeing up against a fence in the street is grim

Meh, I'd be saying something
But then I have teenage girls who'd be grossed out by seeing this

@Lumene

Jesus. What do they do when they need a poo?!
Luckily haven't seen anyone with their bottom dangling over the fence just yet

I would have gone out there and said something to him at the time.

Well it's illegal and can be deemed as indecent exposure. Caught by a policeman you're likely to get a fine. It's generally including under council byelaws which state no person shall urinate or defecate in a public place.

It's pretty gross, to be honest. The company he works for should have thought about where they are going to pee if there's no working toilet in the property.

Rank.

I used to live by an access road to a park and still have flashbacks to the day some white van man thought it was OK to piss into the bushes.

The tight git site owners should be renting proper portaloos.

You should have taken a picture and posted it on WhatsApp asking who could identify the unknown man

I think I’d be approaching them and letting them know that X garage down the road has a public toilet. That way they know you’ve seen them & hopefully won’t do it again. Grim.
