Family gathering- Covid klaxon

A family gathering is planned for Saturday. These get togethers are rare as relatives are dispersed all over the country. A family member is travelling from a distance whom we don't see much of, sadly this person has cancer and has been receiving treatment (relevant to question).
We received an email from school today to notify parents the whole school is closed for deep cleaning: DC1 can return tomorrow, DC2 can't return until Monday 24th as their year has more positive cases. That's all the info we have. DC2's class bubble hasn't been told to isolate, we just know that they are off until the week after next but to me that implies they should be isolating. However DC1 is returning to school from tomorrow as advised in the email.

Question: do we go to the gathering? All stay away from the gathering? Do we all go to the gathering but not DC2, who can't go to school until the week after next?
Opinions and even facts differ amongst family and from what I can see online.
Thanks for reading!

You could all do lateral flow tests and then you can go with a clear conscience that your very low risk.

You go, even without it being potentially the last time I saw my dying relative, I would still go.

Thanks for your reply, we've all done the LF tests today as we had some in the house anyway and everyone is negative. But some family members are concerned they might not be showing a true result. Obviously the worry is about our poorly relative. It's been suggested we go but don't bring DC2 with us.

I think it is up to the relative

possiblestupidq · 13/05/2021 17:27

Rum that's how I feel but they are the priority and if us going is what potentially puts him at huge risk then we couldn't live with it.

Can you contact school and ask for proper clarification on if DC2 should be isolating or if it's just something like their teacher is and there's no one else to cover their class?

possiblestupidq · 13/05/2021 17:36

I think I'll do that!
