To ask you to help me find some non-skinny jeans that are flattering?!

I have been looking for months! Countless tried on and sent back!

I know skinny jeans aren’t ‘in’ anymore and I would like something slightly more ‘relaxed’ in terms of fit for the summer but dear god, every mom/ Boyfriend/ Girlfriend Jean I've tried on has been SO baggy and unflattering. I just want a mid wash, relaxed style with turned up hems, no rips that are FLATTERING and don’t make me look like I’ve got huge, baggy arse or huge hips or whatever.

Does such a Jean exist? If anyone has what they think I’m looking for could they post a picture/ link?

I’m just exasperated with it now. I desperately went out of skinny jeans for the summer but finding a flattering alternative seems impossible!

Traffic on there is just so slow. Whenever I’ve posted before about anything I’ve had about 3 responses and just feel I’m going to need more in order to find these holy grail jeans! Also, perhaps an AIBU in terms of NOT being able to find this?! As everyone else seems to be able to!

Nope. I've bought and returned about 8 pairs. Far too high waisted, feel really thick and heavy too after light stretchy skinnies.

SlipperyDippery · 13/05/2021 11:40

I’ve moved to straight leg jeans - not very adventurous, and possibly dangerously close to skinny in terms of being “in”, but avoids all this unflattering shit round my hips which I don’t think would have worked on me even pre baby!

AnnaSW1 · 13/05/2021 11:41

I live In Gap girlfriend jeans. I love them.

Maybughell · 13/05/2021 11:42

@HugeAckmansWife, yes, that’s exactly my issue too :sigh: I just see other women wearing them and they manage to look good! I’m fairly slim, 8-10 on bottom, 6-8 on top yet everything I’ve tried on has made me look a lot bigger and I can never understand what tips you pair them with. I’m 34, Id feel ridiculous wandering around in a crop top which is what a lot of people seem to wear with them.

I am a 12 though, so not like for like.

ShirleyPhallus · 13/05/2021 11:44

I have this absolute problem. Every time I try on a pair of boyfriend jeans, I hope for a relaxed and slouchy fit. Instead, they all seem to go slouchy around the crotch making it look like I have an enormous ballsack

Beepbopadooda · 13/05/2021 11:47

I feel you! I'm a pear shape and 5 ft 3! I look shit in them

mammaohohohoh · 13/05/2021 11:47

I get my skinnies in Mango...they are more relaxed and a great fit...maybe have a look there?

imnottoofussed · 13/05/2021 11:54

I also like gap girlfriend jeans by my god the price of them puts me off. I've got two pairs which are too small now as I've got at least a stone of extra weight since I last wore them, but I can not convince myself to order some in a bigger size up at that price.

However every other pair of jeans I've ordered in the last 12 months are just no good. Everything is high waisted which I just cant get on with at all.

I like the leg of a mom jean but not the high waist and I also need a but of stretch.

I also like Next relaxed skinny jeans but last season they went high waisted and this season stopped selling them. Its a nightmare.

ginsparkles · 13/05/2021 11:57

I'm back to boot cut jeans and to be honest still wear my skinnies! I don't care if they aren't in vogue, the suit my shape, and work the best with knee high boots which I'm still wearing until the weather improves!

coogee · 13/05/2021 12:03

Same here. I prefer a close fit around the bum and thigh though.

sociallydistained · 13/05/2021 12:03

I’ve recently bought Joules’
Etta straight leg. They’re a really nice fit I’m really pleased and flattering but not skinnies... I’m slowly branching out.

Cagedbirdsinging · 13/05/2021 12:08

Levi 501redtab men's regular fit jeans are good , 30 waist 34 inside leg . I'm tall and slender with no buttocks , a long size 10 .
I once spent a stupid amount of money on a pair of Seven for All Mankind jeans ; I wore them once - they're really comfortable but too low-rise , they're at the bottom of the wardrobe still .

ihavethehighground · 13/05/2021 12:19

It doesn't matter what is "in". You can wear what you like and what is suited to you

Oilpyii · 13/05/2021 12:27

Just avoid the cut. I have small hips, I’m 5’9 with a pretty flat belly. Yet they make me look crap.
I either get ‘cigarettes’, skinny or straight. French connection, fat face, bench often flat. I’m quite into shopping in the teen boy range

peaceanddove · 13/05/2021 12:33

I live in Gap Best Girlfriend Jeans. But recently bought the M&S Harper Cigarette Jeans and I think I love them more (and they're half the price).

Subordinateclause · 13/05/2021 12:40

I think it's such a change from skinny jeans that whatever you try will look wrong to you and you just have to accept it for a while until a new style feels normal. That's what I'm trying anyway! When skinnies came in loads of people didn't give up their boot cuts for ages because they thought skinnies were so unflattering - I was one of them and now struggling to give them up. I'm a decade older and two children heavier so it's not that skinny jeans look any better than they did, I just got used to them. I find showing a bit of ankle helps with the more relaxed styles.

QuentinBunbury · 13/05/2021 12:42

I started a thread yesterday about jeans! It's the flipping cropped look that I can't do. Makes me look very dumpy as I have short legs and a big arse. I can't find any jeans I like! Living in dresses at the mo

Overit20 · 13/05/2021 12:45

H and m vintage slim ankle jeans. They are a game changer. I am a eight and struggle with mum jeans as I have slim legs. I needed to go down a size but they are so flattering. I bought them in three colours. If you sign up as member you get free delivery. There are usually discounts too.

That's probably why I like bootcut. The same as skinnies to the knee but a bit more relaxed to the ankle. I can gradually work my way up to full mom sacks.

OldTinHat · 13/05/2021 12:48

I live in the boot flare jeans from Next, the ones with a name of forgotten that lift your arse and smooth everything out.

OldTinHat · 13/05/2021 12:49

Boot cut! Jeez...I'm getting old, has anyone seen my memory anywhere???

TatoAndBeans · 13/05/2021 12:54

5’3” pear with a mum tum here. I recently bought some straight leg jeans from Community Clothing and they seem pretty good. Not skinny, but not enormous. They’re slightly more expensive than on the High St but that’s because they actually pay their workers a living wage and garments are better made (more double stitching, french seams etc than cheap clothes).
