To not go into work with a cold?

Came down with a cold at work yesterday and I felt awful so many of us in office it didn't feel right. I'm debating calling in sick but I've only been there 3 weeks OH has it and so do the kids.

I know people are a bit funny with COVID and everything.
I have a fever runny nose sore throat headache I would normally stay at home but don't want it to look bad on me.

With a fever you should be getting a test and isolating until you get the results. So, yeah, day off...

YANBU- also get a COVID test as your symptoms don’t just sound like a regular cold if you have a fever

ThatIsMyPotato · 13/05/2021 07:51

You have a fever so no, don't go in. You need to self isolate and get a covid test.

sophielis · 13/05/2021 07:53

DS had it first so I'm pretty sure we have it from him he always picks it up from nursery, I will get a test anyway.

I had these symptoms and it was just a rotten cold, but last year my husband had these symptoms and it was covid, so best to call in sick and book a test asap, just to be on safe side Thanks

I don't get colds often, but when I do, they're corkers, and would not think twice about phoning in sick with them. Apart from feeling like shit, they're highly infectious.

I know MN thinks those who phone in sick with a cold is a pisstaker. I'm not. The last time I did was 18 months back. (Been off sick once sick since, with gallstones attack, but that was pre lockdown #1; so not someone who is off sick that much,)

If you have a fever then you musn't go in and must isolate unless you have negative pcr test, even if you KNOW it's just a cold.
