12 year old girl birthday celebration ideas

Sorry, this is not an aibu!

My dd is turning 12 in June and she didn’t want a party or any friends over this year she wanted to go to a theme park with family. However her school has arranged a trip to Thorpe park which is where we were going to go so that’s gone out of the window.

I’m struggling come up with alternatives and wondered if you had any ideas. We are in the south east. I was thinking of a trip to London but I don’t think shows will be on or anything so wasn’t sure of what to do there..... Brighton is nice with the pier / shops so that could be an option.

Is there anything you could recommend? Wouldn’t mind staying over somewhere too.

Thanks a lot!!

I don’t see why you can’t do Thorpe Park again to be honest, a day with family will be very different to a school trip. Alternatively do you have a climbing centre near you or a water sports centre where you could do paddle boarding or sailing? All these things my DD(11) has done with scouts and loved them.

Do a different theme park!

I would do a different theme park. Go for one you’ve not been to before to make it special. Could you afford to travel a bit further and stay over in a B and B the night before?

Is your DD a Harry Potter fan? The studios visit is good near Watford or perhaps a Muggles walking tour round London, good fun, with lunch afterwards.

Escape room?

We aren’t in London, but for my DD’s 12th this year, we did a private animal meet and greet at a zoo.

Not sure if this is up her street but there's Bewl Water which has a brilliant aqua adventure thing - obstacles/inflatables in water etc

here

My 2 (10&12) just love being given money to take their friends (independentally - it's clearly part of it) in to town to go shopping and buy ice cream. Sometimes they walk to pizza express and I set it up that they call me to pay the bill. For mine, that age just love doing anything that grown ups/older girls do
