'Levelling Up'

This trite quote gets my hackles up. What does it even mean? Level is level - it's linear. You can't 'level up' and no Government or political party would state that they want to 'level down'. If we already have a party which supposedly practises 'one-nation' conservatism, why would we need to 'level up'? But hey-ho, slogans matter and they win elections.

It doesn't make you "pedantic" to not know what a phrase means and then rant it makes no sense - it makes you ignorant.

This post in response to @Villanelles was a reply to a comment that I'm a pedant, not 'a' pedantic. How infuriating it is to a 'pedant' to get grammar wrong . This makes me think I must remember to choose my 'Oxford comma' t-shirt to wear when I'm out socialising for the first time next Friday. This will hopefully make up for kicking myself on the pedant grammar fail. [Now totally distracted from Boris Johnson's CCJ.]

Okay, @WillWonderer > Not sure I was stating I didn't know what the phrase means and, "rant[ed] it makes no sense". I understand very well what it's supposed to convey. I was being a pedant about the grammar and some kinder people on here are explaining it comes from video gaming.
