Depends what it is.

Getting married? Not a long time ago.

Lending a mate a fiver which you forgotten about? A long time ago.

skirk64 · 10/05/2021 14:17

Depends what it was. Two years ago I got a bad haircut, that seems like a long time ago. Two years ago I was in a car crash and still feel the pain, doesn't seem like a long time ago at all.

It’s all relative isn’t it? If you are 86, no. If you are 12, yes. If it’s a trip to the corner shop, yep ages ago, if it’s a trip to Australia from the U.K., it’s fair to say it was a recent trip.

Can't do better than drugsdontwork's post

Bereaved 3 years ago - in some contexts v long, in some v short.

It depends what it is. If it was an event which had a big effect on your life then no.

Getafuckinggripman · 10/05/2021 14:19

If you're talking about something that caused you a lot of emotional pain (I suspect you are) then no, it's not a long time ago x

In terms of DP's cancer diagnosis two years would be an amazingly long time as he was told he had six months to live. In terms of my life time, two years is a relatively short amount of time.

Geamhradh · 10/05/2021 14:21

If I were 8, yes.
At 55, no.

Iyland · 10/05/2021 14:23

I fall into the depends what it is category

Ponoka7 · 10/05/2021 14:24

It seems like two years ago was a long time to not do any trips away. But on the other hand I can't believe that my youngest grandchild is soon to be four. I'm still suffering from the effect of domestic abuse, eight+ years. Yet I was seriously ill four years ago, have physical scars, but have got completely over it.

Sally872 · 10/05/2021 14:27

As others have said long time ago in relation to somethings, recent in relation to others.
