To go to bed at the same time as dd

Ever since she started to ‘go to bed’ and wasn’t just feeding (so about 8 weeks?) I’ve gone to bed at the same time as her. She sleeps in a SnuzPod next to our bed.

Chatting to friends and it seems this is a bit unusual. But she doesn’t seem as settled in the lounge as it’s bright and noisy.

So AIBU?

I went up to bed with my baby at about 7-8pm until he was about 7 months old.

At the end of the day different people will take the risks they are comfortable with.

It doesn’t matter what your friends do/did or what they think - you do what you feel is safest.

In fairness no one made me feel bad, just that I think their babies sleep in the lounge then they take them to their cot later.

But I always thought it was best for her to sleep in a quiet dark room.

I used to do it because I liked being in a dark and quiet room Grin

Come that time of night all I wanted to do was lie down and close my eyes.

I used to go up at the same time as DS pre six months, not always to sleep but to lay in bed, read a book with a low lamp or listen to a podcast (not with headphones), DH would quite often come up too unless he'd worked late and wanted to watch some TV etc. We would chat etc, I didn't want DS in the habit of needing silence to sleep but liked that there was a change of location , lighting etc to signify bedtime. It was usually about eightish. I was shattered most of the time and it was winter time so quite nice to snuggle up in bed
