Giving away a free item of my mums. She wanted it gone ASAP I wrote this on the post. Woman messaged saying can I have so I asked her when she could pick up she said Monday. I then said to her could you get someone else to collect for you or I will past it on. Her friend has now commented on the post where I’ve giving the item and she’s replied to her. I asked for it but she as in me gave it to someone else as I couldn’t pick it up on time. The friend then replied no way with a load of. Exclamation marks. Aibu to think I asked her if she could ask someone else to pick up it it’s not like I just have it to someone else without saying anything.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it.

Sparklesocks · 09/05/2021 00:15

Sorry I’m struggling to fully understand all of this as it’s a bit confusing, but if it’s too much drama just move onto the next person.

....what?

user1471457751 · 09/05/2021 01:46

Monday is less than 48hrs away

sweetypop · 09/05/2021 01:56

Just delete their comments and/or your post and don't worry about it. Or just reply and say yes way! Told you I'm not holding it so tough shit!!

Sillawithans · 09/05/2021 02:15

Why would you not keep it until Monday? Whenever I see that on Facebook market place I always think what a twat.

sweetypop · 09/05/2021 02:25

Buyers and free loaders take the piss on fb all the time so why keep it until Monday when you want it gone ASAP and someone picks it up sooner? It's just tough luck IMO
Aprilx · 09/05/2021 02:48

I am not surprised they commented on your unreasonableness. Fine you are giving someone away, but they have said they will come and get it on Monday and it is now (and was when you posted), Sunday. They were hardly taking the mickey.

Sillawithans · 09/05/2021 02:52

@sweetypop it seems Monday was asap for that person.

mainsfed · 09/05/2021 03:53

YANBU, you were clear you wanted it gone ASAP, they proposed collection on Monday, you wanted it gone sooner and gave it to someone who could collect it earlier than that.

The woman was being unreasonable for moaning, you gave her the chance to collect it sooner.

Comment back saying ‘you snooze you lose’

ThatIsMyPotato · 09/05/2021 05:26

People have lives to live and she said she could come Monday. I would have gone with that. You're taking a gamble that anyone would come sooner.

mainsfed · 09/05/2021 05:43

People have lives to live

So has OP’s mum, she wanted it gone.

Beatinghearts · 09/05/2021 09:58

I think it's been said a few times on here that you're better off charging a small amount than giving items away for free. It filters out a lot of the cheeky fuckers.

Just ignore and move on.

Atalantea · 09/05/2021 10:06

Did you put "first to collect, not comment"

That can help sometimes

Beatinghearts · 09/05/2021 10:14

It needed to go as was taking up the space where the new item she had brought needed to go. She’s very limited for space

YANBU

When giving things away you write the rules and don’t owe anyone anything! The only time it’s unreasonable is if you waste someone’s time as long as you’re up front then no YANBU!

Some people are so entitled Hmm ‘free to first to collect’ is a regular thing in our area. Many in our village actually put the items on their driveway/garden and post them with a ‘come get it’ attitude.

SnarkyBag · 09/05/2021 11:01

If I need something gone ASAP I always put when it needs to be collected by if going for free.

I wouldn’t want to wait until Monday either as often if it’s free people have no qualms about not turning up so you’re stuck with your unwanted item for longer.

You were only unreasonable in that you didn’t make your conditions clear in your post.
