When to buy a house

Looking to upside due to expanding family.
Have been looking for a few months but it seems the housing market has gone crazy. Properties getting offers without viewings and going for extortionate amounts.
We are chained so this adds another layer of complexity.
AIBU to wait another 6 months or should I take the jump now?
Do you think the market will settle or am I just increasing my inevitable spend?

Sliding doors I'm afraid, you will never know the right time,as with everything in life, you just have to do it

I'm in the exact same situation. We've decided to leave it for a year and reevaluate then. We're lucky i guess in that there isn't an urgent need to move, we'd just like to have more space.

Hmm so hard to know what to do. Don't want to end up waiting and having to pay more. Been doing alot of reading around the forecast for the housing market but again just like weather predictions they can be way off hahs

Same boat and really don’t know what to do!

I think we will continue to view houses and if we can get a great house without paying passively over for it we will bit hopefully we know our limits.

@Hotelhelp the problem is that with the boom in buyers, what is considered paying over the odds gets bigger and bigger haha. The standard drops

Hoping someone who has a background in real estate or finance will come along with some advice
