To feel insulted by this assumption...

Being lighthearted here... but yesterday, I was at the optician and had been talking to someone about my glasses for a while...
Then I wanted to make an appointment for my daughter and she asked her birth year. I casually said ‘7’ (you know 2007...). I admit this wasn’t crystal clear but then discover she’s put 1970 in her system! Hello!! I’m in my forties and hadn’t been born myself in 1970!
I’m laughing - but Shock I like to think I pretty much look my age... Perhaps I’m severely deluded?!
So, just wondering what unintentional (or maybe slightly intentional) insults you’ve picked up from ‘well-meaning’ folk over the years?

My guess is she put that date in to annoy you cause you annoyed her with your answer!

I wonder if she typed the 7 and it autofilled it to 70 perhaps.

I'd consider it payback for just saying "7". Really couldn't bring yourself to at least say 07 OP? I have never ever heard of anyone just saying "7" to reference a year... Could be worse, she could have put in 7 AD.

No... because she admitted 1970 and then laughed and said she hadn’t really been thinking when I pointed out that made me 80 or so!
7AD! That’s got me laughing...
Fully admit 7 was a bit weird. This is all lighthearted... and I’m not TOO insulted. Well just a tiny bit.

Grin yep I strongly suspect it was deliberate working to rule. Because you were so vague she was making a point ...I genuinely am being lighthearted because I quite like this sort of malicious compliance. Grin. To be fair to her ot worked didn't it .

Yes but it was her DDs age they were asking for. If you had a kid in 1970, you’d be somewhere between 70 and 90

Just saying '7' is totally bizarre though, you've only got yourself to blame for the confusion!

I meant 07... it came out as 7. And before I knew it, she’d tapped in 1970.
If I knew this post was going to turn into a maths challenge, I’d have thought twice. Grin
