Yes i know.... not a real AIBU (sorry!!) but i need some ideas really quickly!!
I desperately need to decorate my daughters nursery but the houses previous owners painted her room pale blue. Im on a really tight budget and i wonder if there is any way of making pale blue cute and girly? I want it to grow with her so not too ‘babyish’

If anyone could share photos as inspo (I’ve tried googling and there’s nothing jumping to me)
It would be amazing!!

Thank you!

Pale blue is fine for a girl - think cinderella!

Would some contrasting decals on the wall help? They are cheap and easy to put up. We had a tree with pink blossoms on the wall when my dc were young, that would look nice on a blue background.

Or maybe think about an ocean or mermaid theme?

ChillyB · 06/05/2021 11:40

Make it into sky? Paint some clouds and a rainbow?

PriestessofPing · 06/05/2021 11:41

Gold or pink decals?

Happycat1212 · 06/05/2021 11:42

Yes as pp said make it a sky and use tester pots for the clouds and rainbow etc

Peanutbutterandbananatoastie · 06/05/2021 11:42

Get a sample pot of white paint and paint some clouds? So it’s like she’s in the sky.

Oops cross posted

A blue room isn't going to make her grow a penis ffs

Tittybittybangbang · 06/05/2021 14:16

Surely with some bedding and a rug it’ll look ‘feminine’? Paint some big flowers on the wall.

The simplest would just be to hang something pretty/cute on the wall anything you like to make that the focus, rather than the paint colour. Use other accessories, like rugs, bedding, a curtain, etc. to make the blue work with whatever theme/colour scheme you like. If you want to be sure it coordinates with the wall colour, choose accessories that include a bit of pale blue. Rainbows go with anything, for instance. But really, it will be fine.

Pale blue is easy! Be glad it's not some really bright, overwhelming blue that dominates the room! Wink

DD had a pale blue room as a baby as we didn't know if we were having a boy or girl. I think blue is absolutely fine for a girl! We put a few things on the walls - cute canvas prints of animals and a framed collage made of some of her new baby cards (a lot of which were pink!) You could also accessorise with different coloured rug, cushions, curtains etc.

Great minds think alike @MyDogIsDrivingMeMad

Vinyl stickers. You can get all kinds of lovely designs.

Happycat1212 · 06/05/2021 14:39

Polka dot wall stickers?

Nothing wrong with pale blue - add stars and it's be like the sky.

StoneofDestiny · 06/05/2021 15:08

Another pic idea - but you could also do a Jemima Puddleduck theme

Oh another one, under the sea theme? So get some sea creature stuff for the walls? Turtles mermaids etc

PattyPan · 06/05/2021 15:20

I think it will automatically look girly with her stuff! Like this picture, it’s the toys and knickknacks that make it girly.

why does the colour of the walls matter? fill the room with the toys & pictures that your child likes & it will be fine.

minipilling · 06/05/2021 15:49

Powder blue and pink would be perfect - if you've seen the Sofia Coppola Marie Antoinette film a lot of the colour palette is like this. I also think powder blue and cream (like bed canopy etc) would look nice when she is older.

@KingdomScrolls
Surely just scroll on if you’ve got nothing productive or helpful to say?
I’m obviously aware it won’t make my girl turn into a boy Hmm
I hope whatever thing in your life that’s making you sad enough to comment on my post with something so ridiculous resolves itself soon for you Wink
