That's all it is! Apparently it was some of those playing the word games who started chatting during the game, and then 'transferred' the chat into its own thread. Scuttlebugger is a MN version of another word (forget what it is, think it's scuttlebutter) which means gossip/chatter.

Think that's right but no doubt someone will tell me if it's wrong!
