They've both had negative PCR and lateral flow tests so it's just an old fashioned cough.

If they have a negative test it’s probably fine? I’d ask their policies.

Yes of course. My sons been coughing for 4 weeks. No way would I keep him home and me off work if he’s had a negative pcr test.

The nursery we use would be fine with a negative pcr test result about them going in. I know other providers would require them to be off for the duration of the cough. Give them a ring and ask.

We did with our DD and they were fine with it (obviously following a negative PCR). She is still coughing 2 weeks later so that would have been a lot of missed nursery if she couldn't go just because of a cough.

I'm sending my DS in with a cough. He has also had a negative PCR and a very obvious snotty cold. He would be off for weeks waiting for it to clear.

Thanks! They're both in school and all fine. Although, I will feel the need to reassure every other parent who goes near them that they've tested negative, I can't be the only one who runs for the hills now whenever I hear a cough?!Confused

Dd has been coughing for 3 weeks. Tested negative and nursery are happy for her to come in.

In our nursery there basically been a cough circulating since January - each child gets it in turn, has to get a PCR test of course, but nursery says to send them in as soon as the test comes through. (From the emails, there are at least 3 or 4 kids tested for a cough each week- none has ever been covid.)

The nursery would have been empty for the last 5 months if parents kept coughing children who had tested negative off just to spare everyone's anxieties.
