More than likely but you won't know for sure without being tested

TheGoogleMum · 03/05/2021 12:21

I have both (lucky me, although no periods on current birth control) and no pcos.

Polkadotties · 03/05/2021 12:26

Best to get tested. I have regular periods and no excess body hair but I have pcos.

georgarina · 03/05/2021 12:49

Sounds like PCOS or could be something called NCAH if you're Mediterranean/Jewish/Middle Eastern

MumofSpud · 03/05/2021 12:58

@Beatinghearts

Definitely means pcos?
My 15 year old DD went to the doctor last week to ask about PCOS. He said she can't be tested until she is 18.Sad
Ughmaybenot · 03/05/2021 13:06

It’s not a definite but certainly worth speaking to the doctor about.

SomewhereInbetween1 · 03/05/2021 13:12

Not always. My body hair grows quickly but it's not excessive nor is it in places it shouldn't be. Remember that there is a difference between PCO and PCOS, the former is much more common.

Francescaisstressed · 03/05/2021 13:39

No, people who are significantly overweight can have those symptoms, as well as those with hormonal disorders.

Emmelina · 03/05/2021 13:45

Not for definite, but something sounds off with the hormones.

Not always. I have excess hair (only mildly), irregular periods, acne and excess weight around my middle and apparently my hormones levels are all normal. The belly fat is probably just my sweet tooth to be fair Grin
clipclop5 · 03/05/2021 14:36

This is definitely something I’ve been wondering about with DD. I wouldn’t say her body hair is excessive but definitely more than normal and in odd places eg: tummy. Has always had very irregular periods however they do seem to be regulating a bit now. She is 17.

gwenneh · 03/05/2021 14:44

PCOS isn't the only metabolic syndrome with those symptoms, so no, there's nothing definite about those symptoms.

MeadowHay · 03/05/2021 14:45

No, I had both and didn't have PCOS or any other health condition. My periods eventually gradually went regular in my late twenties. My body hair is just my middle Eastern genes Grin.

Coldwine75 · 03/05/2021 14:46

Omg my dd has this, could she have pcos? 17 years

SugarCrash1 · 03/05/2021 14:54

I had stress from living abroad, which caused amenorrhoea, which seemed to cause excess facial hair.

Thatstartedturningwhen · 03/05/2021 15:48

Not at all, I'm very hairy and have irregular periods and I have normal ovaries (they been scanned using ultrasound). I conceived our first child in four months and our second in one month. Some women are just hairier than others, and I think our idea of what a "normal" amount of body hair is for a woman has become very skewed anyway by both the beauty and fashion industries.
