To ask if one anti depressants in a group hasn’t worked

They want me to try Fluoxetine but I’ve been on Sertraline and it didn’t work.
I see they are from the same
Group of anti depressants.

I used to be on sertraline and it stopped being effective for me, but am currently on Fluoxatine (have been for a while) and it works well for me.
I think despite being in the same group, they can still work differently, which works better or worse depending on the person

I've recently started fluoxetine. It's been marvellous so far. Minimal side effects compared to sertraline (which I only lasted a week on due to hating the side effects), which is why the Dr suggested it. It's kicked in after 6 weeks and I'm feeling better.

Sertraline isn't effective in some people. Other antidepressants in the SSRI group are likely to work for you though. I'm on Escitalopram now after being on Sertraline and it's working fine.
