House alarm

House alarm a couple of doors down went off around 2:30am. After about 10 minutes I knocked on the door to check all okay...lights on but no answer. I ummed and ahhed about whether to go to bed or whether I should do something so I called 101. Apparently that's the local police. I eventually called, as the alarm went off (typical), and they said they couldn't do anything unless there was a sign of a break-in. They didn't take the address just my name. Aibu in thinking this was bit poor? Or is that just the normal route for these kind of things?

Are you on my street?
Currently an alarm is blaring.

Police don't care unless someone is being abducted or murdered.

No I'm in London. Sorry to hear there's one near you as well! Maybe I've watched too many crime dramas and thrillers but it felt wrong to ignore it. What's the point in having an alarm otherwise?!

This happened to me when the neighbours went away.....it went off for 4 days straight....fire and police refused to do anything

If it's a burglar alarm it will eventually stop - they have a function which stops it going off indefinitely.....unlike fire alarms which will continue forever
