Going out to ‘Wet the babies head’

Due later on in the year and DH has mentioned his night out to wet the babies head 😂 it’s very much the done thing where we are from but I just see it as an excuse for a piss up. I don’t mind because I’ll be glad of the break after us both being off work after the baby is born but I do laugh, 9 months of pregnancy and hours and hours in labour but they get the night out... men 😂 Is it the done thing everywhere?

Can you not go for a night out too? I’m going to a hen party not long after I give birth!

I completely agree. It’s a piss take. It’s not even remotely fair that women’s lives stop and men’s barely pause for breath when a baby is born. It should be shared responsibility for a good while after birth IMO

Unless like the PP you can factor in a night out for you too?! Though it might not be as relaxed and enjoyable as you expect!

Last thing I wanted to do when my first was little was go out. I remember having tickets for a comedy night when she was 3 weeks old and DH and I both trying to make the other go.

I was more jealous of the fact that he got to spend her first night in front of the fire with a bottle of red wine while I was in the hospital unable to sleep. All was fine but they gave me the option of staying in and i thought I would as she was my first. Made sure we repeated that with DD2!

My husband didn't, he was far too knackered from hours of rocking the baby while she screamed every evening! And they told us newborns slept most of the time...
