To search for old bank statements

Does anyone know how far back HSBC might retain financial records for?

Trying to dig out old bank statements on behalf of elderly relative and ideally need to go back further than 7 years...

Call HSBC customer support.

You could do a Subject Access request and they have to give you everything they have. I did it with Lloyds and got stuff going back 18 years.

I had to get them from Barclays going back 10+ years a while ago
I had to go into a branch to order them, and pay a small fee but they all arrived a few weeks later

They were laid out like normal statements though, just a list of transactions - name of organisation plus amount, but not with bank logo, account name name address, account details etc on the top of each page

So if you need them for official purposes - court case etc - you’ll need to get each page stamped and verified as an accurate copy of the account

Sorry, They were’t laid out like normal statements though, just a list of transactions

Great, thank you so much all, your replies are reassuring - I was bracing myself for a logistical nightmare!

I can relax a bit now :)

Life of account plus 6 years

(Years of auditing behind me. Might be simplified transactions as pp said)

Thank you :)

Seriously, had the most stressful couple of weeks and it's really taking a toll, the prospect of struggling to pull this information together was feeling like the proverbial straw.
