Relocation Advice

Shamelessly asking for opinions on areas where to buy a property. Relocation due to work in the Wales/Sheffield area. Have a DD who is 3 so nursery to start with and then primary school next year. Looking at around a 15 mile radius of Wales with a budget of 250k, any good areas or particular ones to avoid???
Thanks

Which part of Wales, it is quite big so within 15 mile radius of Wales doesn't really mean much. Cardiff (south) is 180 miles away from Rhyl (north).

Are you going to be working in Sheffield in which case North Wales would be better? Chester is nice and I'm sure you can get something within y our budget there.

There’s a place called Wales in Sheffield..........

Freshhel · 27/04/2021 12:01

Sorry to clarify I mean Wales in South Yorkshire

I’d suggest AIBU is not the best place for this question, OP.

Maybe you're right TomHardy, there seems to be a lot of traffic and I've advised myself on relocation posts in the past so thought I would try and get some advice from the wise people out there.

Oops, you learn something new everyday, I thought you meant Wales the country Grin

15 miles isn't going to get you far, places like Rotherham and Barnsley, which I'm sure both have their pluses but wouldn't be for me. Don't look West, you'll have the peak district to navigate. Whilst beautiful it's an absolute nightmare to drive through in bad weather plus slow roads. If you do want within that distance Chesterfield is there or there abouts, fairly quite but nice and not far from beautiful countryside.

Thanks Christmas, that gives me a starting point at least which is really helpful, have a bit of time on which to visit and research areas before a move but it's to know and I like the look of the prices from what I've seen so far.

Wentworth is just outside your 15 mile limit, but straight up the M1 (although that won't necessarily mean much at peak times in terms of speed!). It is beautiful and quaint. Don't know much about the schools.

Villages like Dronfield are lovely, not far from Wales and the Peak District and easy to get into Sheffield

Thank you, I'll check these areas out, much appreciated.
