To ask for help with my hairdressers disaster

I've put a pastel pink hairdye on. The Schwarzkopf one that lightens it 2 shades too. Have used it before a few years ago no problem so wasn't expecting any issues.
However, my roots are now bright ginger! I've realised what's happened is most of my hair is already pre lightened but I had about 2 inches of root regrowth which is medium brown naturally but now heavily grey so I thought the pink would just go over it all ok.
I can't get to the hairdressers until next month so I need help now! Do I do it again and leave it on the roots longer to pre lighten them more or will it make it worse? I've tried purple shampoo and not helped a great deal.

You can get something to strip your hair. I dyed mine red and was too much and this took it all off. Got mine from amazon but supermarkets and chemists do it.

I would buy a darker pink for the top personally and have a dark to light fade effect.

aintnothinbutagstring · 26/04/2021 09:13

I don't know really, my hairdresser said they refuse to work on hair that's been coloured with Schwarzkopf as it damages the hair quite a lot and makes it really stretchy, so they don't want to add to the damage. Maybe try a gloss colour in a slightly darker, more natural colour?

I think this idea is best - do a shadow root in a darker shade. You’ll need a brush to do it and make sure you section enough if you need to do underneath. There’s lots of tutorials on YouTube. I fear that if you keep trying to lighten it you’ll just get more and more orange.

When I was a lot younger I dyed my hair from light brunette to very bright blonde and it went fire orange 😂 I put an ash blonde over the top of it and it went a lovely colour! I was always told ash colours really help to tone down the orange! But not sure that will help if half your hair is pink?

Hairdresser here !
I don’t usually recommend home hair colouring but if u can’t get to a salon !
Just pre lighten the roots agin until it’s lifts to a light enough shade eg pale yellow inside of a banana colour (only your roots ) then apply the pink ! X

JimBobNoJob · 26/04/2021 11:45

@Belledan1 I don’t think the colour remover will work in the ops case, as the Schwarzkopf has lightener in it. So it has lightened her roots to an orange colour and deposited pink on the already blonde bits.

I think the colour remover may only remove the pink from the blonde and still leave roots orange.

But I agree with @Hairobsessed123 you need to lighten your roots again to lift them to a pale yellow. Then put the pink on

Cherrychocchip · 26/04/2021 11:48

Thanks will try that! The colour remover I've used before defo made my hair orange so I wouldn't dare put it on! The purple shampoo has pretty much removed the pink. It's a very faded ashy blonde/very pale pink which would be lovely if it weren't for the roots!

@Cherrychocchip
Yes use a bleach peroxide 20vol and powder bleach I wouldn’t use 30 because it’s already lifter to orange so u don’t need that strength low and slow is best for the hair goodluck x

EmeraldShamrock · 26/04/2021 11:53

Either use colour remover but in my experience it can be patchy.
I'd personally blonde the roots, comb it down after 20 mins leave another 10 mins wash out and repink.
Don't buy live buy the semi permanent knight's&Wilson I used it on DD the weekend it's beautiful.

EmeraldShamrock · 26/04/2021 11:55

The knight's and Wilson magenta dream might do full coverage without faffing about.

EmeraldShamrock · 26/04/2021 11:57

Last post. If you have 20 vol peroxide mix with small piece of magenta dream do roots for 15, then apply the remaining without peroxide over full head.
I've had all shades in life. Grin

Hwory · 26/04/2021 12:09

Well if you want it all pink then bleach your roots and put a semi permanent pink (not a lightener one) all over.

A colour remover is a waste of time - the box dye lifted your hair to ginger not deposited ginger. You can't remove that.
