To cancel my order

I have spent a long time choosing some flooring by ordering samples as until recently you couldn't get into the shops.
I then measured up the area I needed and found a floorer to fit it all.
Today I phoned up a flooring supplier to order the exact material and specified the area I wanted and paid by credit card.

The man on the other end of the phone said at the end:
"Wow, it is so good to get a female customer who knows exactly what she wants."

I was a bit flabbergasted to be honest.
Should I ignore the comment and move on or should I phone up and cancel just to prove a point as I think that comment was not on. I can easily get the product elsewhere.

0 point for effort on such a goady thread

I have spent a long time choosing some flooring really...

Try harder

Why is it a goady thread?
What am I missing?

Well I would ignore that case

Yes he has a negative impression of women , it may be a direct result of his experience, but he is not allowing that to colour his treatment of you ,

Not like he say are you sure or can I check with your husband etc which would be different to me

How is spending a long time choosing a floor, "goady" ?!

To quote an old favourite

I don't think that words means what you think it means...

Must be “let’s get offended for no reason” on MN today.

Sparklesocks · 25/04/2021 14:28

That is annoying. I think I’d weigh up how easily/quickly it would be to order elsewhere and what the delivery time etc would be and how keen I was to get the job done within a certain timeframe. If it was ages I might suck it up. Also if you could even get your money back if you cancelled (not sure what their Ts and Cs are). But it’s your choice, your money and all that.

pepsicolagirl · 25/04/2021 14:29

It was an interesting comment but I would not be too hasty in cancelling if it is what you want at a good price.

I am the queen of passive aggressive though so would be tempted when reviewing to include a line like "luckily I was a female who also knew exactly what I wanted..." but honestly, he probably thought he was being funny

I wouldn't cancel, but I may complain and threaten to cancel. Things won't change unless they are highlighted.

DD put in a complaint at a carpet shop last year, she and I were going in to get carpet for her room and the guy at the door told her she was a girl so probably wanted pink sparkles. She was horrified and pulled him up on his blatant sexism and stereotyping, and the manager overheard, and she was equally as horrified.

We ended up with an apology and bought a lovely green carpet.

I suppose thats goady too though 🤣🤣
