Scaffold and sky

My neighbour has put up scaffold which goes into my garden by a couple of feet and completely surrounds my sky dish which stops the signal. We have tried moving the dish ourselves but have had to call an engineer to manoeuvre it to recieve a signal.
It has cost us £55. Who do you think should pay? as he is refusing to cough up

Him of course. Did he ask you if he could come into your garden for the scaffolding?

Overthebow · 24/04/2021 17:51

Did you agree to the scaffolding?

This happened to us years ago - we complained to the neighbour and asked them to move the scaffolding. The company doing the scaffolding paid for our dish to be temporarily moved then put back. But I think it was the council who ultimately paid - next door was a council house - so they may have been more accommodating than a private company.
But whoever pays, it shouldn't be you.

He should be paying and if he won’t tell him to remove the scaffolding from your garden

I would also call the scaffolding company and tell them to come back and remove the scaffolding from your garden if he won’t cough up

Sorry just worked out my replies havent been posting properly. The scaffolders asked permission and I agreed as long as my sky signal was sorted out. They put up scaffold and left. My neighbour wasnt interested in doing anything so I arranged for it to be moved from the wall to the scaffold.

He should obviously pay!

We had neighbours scaffolding on our property and it affected our sky signal. We just knocked and the neighbours got the scaffolders to move the bit causing an issue.

Reasonabletillpushed · 24/04/2021 18:43

The scaffolders wont do anything, already tried and the neighbour has now said hes googled it and legally hes not liable for any cost moving the dish

Dismantle the part of the scaffolding that blocks your signal and leave it tidily in his garden

Or tell him that's what you are going to do if he doesn't pay up.
