To be worried about occupational health meeting?

Please someone talk some sense into me! I have a pre-employment check for a new job and I'm worried they will say I'm not fit for the job. I am currently off work due to poor mental health caused by workplace bullying, but I know I'm fit for the new job as now I'm out of the old workplace it's like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I just hope occupational health see it this way!

I'm sure it will be fine. Good luck!

We have people go to occupational health meetings constantly. It’s just them checking in with you.
Get in a union if you have any concerns but I’m sure it’s fine.

If they are anything like my experience with OH they will be fab! I had various issues and was on long term sick and a family member was having mental health problems. The person I was assigned to couldn't have been more helpful.
Congratulations on your new job, I hope this is a new start for youFlowers

Thanks everyone! That's made me feel a bit better. Fingers crossed.

I had a pre-employment check last year when I started my new job. I was really worried in case they found some health-related reason to not employ me, but it really isn't about that. Its making sure you're fit to work, and if you do have any pre-existing conditions, do you need a bit of extra support. Its ok, really, but i do understand how you can get worried about it.

I've just had one last week as I've been off work with cancer treatment - it was fine to be honest! I said I was ready and the report made me sound like I was the fittest person ever hehe! Be honest with how you feel about your state in returning to work e.g you are ready etc... I was nervous but honestly had nothing to worry about xx

@funnylittlefloozie @WoWsers16 Thanks both, glad you had good experiences! I'm just worried about how they actually determine whether someone is 'fit for work' and I know it might be difficult with mental health related stuff.

@Wigglets, I think your new employer will have sent some questions to OH, for you to discuss together when you have your appointment. I was off sick for 6 months, and the questions focused on any adjustments I felt might be needed on my return to work. My OH doctor was really helpful, listened to all I had to say and I felt supported.

It's normal to feel worried, especially having gone through an awful time at your previous place of work. Just be honest and tell the OH person you meet what you have told us here. You'll be fine. Congratulations on your new job!

@bunnyhopsbunnyhops Cute username, and thanks for the words of advice. I hope that's all it is - I think because the recruitment process has been so long and drawn out it's given me a lot of time to get myself worried and worked up over things.
