Thick womb

So I'm a little worried. I went for a ultrasound scan about 3 weeks ago to check for cysts on my ovaries which thankfully came back clear but gp said I have a thickening of the the womb lining. Now what got me worried is the pains and pressure and strange bleeding I have been having and for the gp to ask me if I was planning having any more children. Was told they would ring me to tell what will happen next. Had anyone had anything similar?

Has your GP done any blood tests? How old are you? Did your GP give you any more information about what to expect.

I had the same a few years ago but it was a couple of months after I'd had a coil out and hadn't had a period. After I'd had a period (the heaviest of my life) it was all back to normal.
Thickened endometrium can be a cause for concern which is why they follow up on it but it can, as in my case, have a simple explanation.

Has your GP given any indication of how long you will have to wait for a call?

I'm post menopausal and was investigated for a thickening lining. This was after I was spotting and had pain. It wasn't anything to worry about but I've had a coil fitted and occasionally go on to HRT. It might be that a coil is appropriate for you, hence the question of more children.

I had complications from taking Tamoxifen for ten years. I had a thick endometrial lining. I was bleeding heavily and I haven't had a period for a few years. I had a biopsy and was told I had simple endometrial hyperplasia. My body still produces estrogen but not progesterone. I was put on progesterone for 3 months and recently had another biopsy which was clear.

I am 31 have two kids and don't plan on having anymore. No the gp didn't give me any more information other than they will ring me which they haven't so going to ring tomorrow and see if I can speak to her. I have really bad period pains constantly even when it's not that time of month with strange spotting in between periods.

I have endometriosis and what you're saying about yourself sounds very familiar. Mine has been much worse over the past 8-10 years although I've always had nasty periods.
It's been a while since it was discussed (as my clinic stopped appointments due to Covid) but I know my womb lining being thick has been talked about. They didn't seem to think it was a problem for me - I'm pretty sure I had a biopsy but I've been poked and prodded so much it's hard to keep track without checking my notes!
I think it can sometimes develop into something more serious but not for everyone. So they'll probably want to check and monitor you. Hope all becomes clear when they contact you.

I have been tempted to use Dr Google but would probably just make it 10 times worse so thank you for your reply

I had to have a biopsy for the same issue. Mine was caused by fibroids and mild endometriosis.

I had a thickened womb lining and fibroids - and debilitating periods. I went through about two years of hell until they got to the bottom of it, had a Mirena coil fitted, and that solved everything instantly. (I assume it did; periods stopped, no idea how thick my womb lining might be, now post menopause)
As you're not planning to have more children, worth asking about.

If they've not called back after three weeks, I'd give GP a call to push for the outcome - test results must have come back after three weeks - better to chase and be given a future date, rather than results simply get lost in system! - or they do have results, just no one has bothered to communicate them!
