Hi OP, you've posted in AIBU, you may want to get this moved to the pregnancy forum instead!

PegPeople · 23/04/2021 09:30

Mine appeared really early which apparently isn't common at all for a first pregnancy. Most people I know who were pregnant at the same time as me could have kept it hidden quite easily until 20+ weeks.

Myself however clearly looked ginormous. Went to a wedding in early June and someone said "you'll be glad not to be pregnant all summer if this heat keeps up. Poor thing you look ready to burst." They nearly died of embarrassment when I told them baby wasn't due until December Blush

Warrickdaviesasplates · 23/04/2021 09:30

Is this your first pregnancy?

In my first pregnancy I was still in my size 6 skinny jeans at my 20 week scan. I had a little bump pop out at about 24ish weeks and I looked pregnant after that.

Second baby (4th pregnancy) I had a noticeable bump at 10 weeks. He was a huge baby so I was always measuring very large.

Third baby (5th pregnancy) I got my bump around 14-15 weeks but you wouldn't notice it unless you were looking. Now at 25 weeks I've got a big bump that you can't miss.

Angrypregnantlady · 23/04/2021 09:30

You're fine OP. Everyone shows at different times, I think I was only just starting to show at 20 weeks, I'm 38 now and bloody huge! But there are still women the same gestation as me with little bumps. And some with bigger bumps. It's normal, don't worry about it.

Warrickdaviesasplates · 23/04/2021 09:33

What I really meant to say is that your first pregnancy bump will generally show up later as your stomachs muscles are still strong and haven't stretched and moved to accommodate a baby before.

But really every pregnancy is different and at this earlier stage you'll struggle to find an average really. After 24 weeks (I think) your midwife may start measuring your bump as that's when there tends to be an average size/growth.

OrangeRug · 23/04/2021 09:48

I got a very small bump at about 15 weeks but I was never very big during my pregnancy,

nancy75 · 23/04/2021 09:51

When is the scan, 20 weeks? (It was a long time ago that I was pregnant!) I didn’t have a bump then, I think it was a couple of weeks after

nancy75 · 23/04/2021 09:53

Even when they did the bump measuring I was small but Dd was 7lb6 so a hearty weight, a friend was pregnant at the same time & was huge - her Dd was same weight as mine. Everyone is different

tracker222 · 23/04/2021 09:54

Not until about 27 weeks. I didn't discover I was pregnant until I was 24 weeks. My DS kept himself well hidden!

Thatisnotwhatisaid · 23/04/2021 09:54

My friend didn’t know she was pregnant until she was 32 weeks and she had no bump at all. We have photos of her at a party a week before she found out and her stomach is washboard flat, we still have no idea where the baby was hiding!

My bumps were always quite prominent from 14ish weeks onwards.

BrumBoo · 23/04/2021 10:01

I'm 35 weeks and currently wearing my pre-pregnancy jeans. Not because I'm a supermodel with the most toned abs in history unfortunately - a long torso, bit of height and a baby that lives in my ribs/back means even on my third full term pregnancy I don't get to look anything but a bit fat. Baby is measuring on the 95th centile as well.

Most women start showing after 20+ weeks, and usually by 30+ it's all bump, even with a first pregnancy.

thereoncewaslove · 23/04/2021 10:04

I was showing properly around 12/14 weeks

DappledThings · 23/04/2021 10:31

We went on holiday for a week at 24/25 weeks. I wore my normal jeans on the plane there then put them in a drawer for a week till the journey back.

Somewhere in that week things changed and I couldn't do jeans up anymore and sat on the plane with them half undone and covered with a blanket. So 24 weeks for me!

Alonelonelyloner · 23/04/2021 10:33

Bumps around 15 weeks are mainly bloating surely?
I've had quite a few babies and never shown before 20 weeks or so. The uterus doesn't even grow out of the pelvis until 12/13 weeks.

Try not to worry.

PurBal · 23/04/2021 10:34

I was in maternity jeans at 12w (DC1). Everyone is different.

Chunkymenrock · 23/04/2021 10:37

From 19 weeks, it really started to grow!

BuckysArm · 23/04/2021 10:38

It really varies. My sister didn’t really show until about 18w. Me on the other hand had a very pronounced pump from about 8w so we had to tell some people early it was that obvious. And then at 11w a photographer announced it at a wedding by instead of describing the dress I had on asked if the pregnant women could move so he could capture the bump (mortifying on so many levels as I thought I’d managed to dress to disguise it).

I have an IBD and I’ve often wondered if it was to do with some inflammation/bloating. I carried really strangely too, my bump basically went from under my breasts, down my sides and out like a massive egg.

Varied, although I was sick all the way through so didn't put on huge amounts of weight.

Dc1 it wasn't until after 20 weeks. Can't remember when I first noticed, but it was after the 20 week scan. Did have someone apologise to me as we chatted getting off the bus at about 35 weeks because I'd been standing and they hadn't realised I was pregnant, but I'm not deluded enough to think that they didn't just think I was fat. Grin
Dc3 was definitely showing by 13 weeks.

OrraBoralis · 23/04/2021 10:56

My DD is 25 weeks today and has a dinky bump but didn't really have much at 16 weeks. She is now starting to show properly don't worry, bumps can be all shapes and sizes.
Good luck on Monday, I am sure everything will be fine. Post back and tell us how you got on.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 23/04/2021 10:57

8 bloody weeks.It was a looooong pregnancy

Heidi1976 · 23/04/2021 11:21

If it is your first then it can take a while to truly 'pop'. I remember speaking to someone when I was 7 months pregnant and they hadn't noticed.....by 9 months though it was definitely obvious :D

timetochangeagainforever · 23/04/2021 11:22

First pregnancy (girl) wasn't showing at all until 6mtgs, still in 'normal' clothes - second pregnancy, five years later, I was obviously pregnant (boy) at 10 weeks!

ShagMeRiggins · 23/04/2021 11:24

With the first I didn’t really show until about 5 months.

With the second I swear I looked five months pregnant approximately four weeks after conception. Grin
