Sitting in my living room with stunning sun streaming in...cannot focus...how?! I have 2 weeks to get my dissertation finished!

Honestly, if you can, go sit outside. Sometimes there is nothing nicer than studying in the shade with the sun shining.

I mean other times, the sun is a menace that makes white pages impossibly bright, and laptop screens terrible to see. Plus the grass is prickly, your drink keeps falling over and you feel all sweaty. In which case the nice weather stops feeling so great, so you migrate inside and feel much more motivated, as the illusion of niceness is spoiled.

It's always the way isn't it, study leave on a sunny day. And sure as eggs are eggs, by the day after the exams/big assignment is due the weather goes to shite. After school exams, University and then an MA, I can only say I find a looming deadline does tend to concentrate the mind somewhat. So unfortunately the answer is just willpower.

That said closing the curtains might help, or maybe some calming sounds of rainfall on a window/car roof. If that doesn't work, You just have to suck it up alas, and make a plan with a treat to congratulate yourself once you've handed it in.

Close the curtains!

get a plugin wifi extender and site it as near to the garden as possible?

When grotty builders next door are not too noisy, and it's warm I work outside in the shade.

Generally I just look forward to finishing as I'll go for a walk after. Pisses me off if it turns and rains after work though!

I decide on a reasonable amount of work to do in the day and plan an outdoor treat once it’s done (a walk or swim). The thought of being able to enjoy the sun once I’ve written that section/5 pages or whatever helps me focus on them.

Yoy just do Angry

I worked all through last summer and was so jealous of my furloughed colleagues (none of whose jobs were at risk) while I was stuck indoors throughout that all glorious weather. Had one week's leave. Needless to say it pissed down all week. Still bitter.
