This is a school run parking one.
DC attends school where there are 3 schools and a nursery all coming out at the same time. Parking is therefore usually rammed. The driver in the car in front of me parked, with me signalling to park behind, but she parked in such a way that there was 2/3 of a car space in front of her and 2/3 behind.
I nipped out of the car "Would you mind? Could you possibly? Move forwards or back please? So I can park too? 2 spaces (gesturing - politely!)? For 2 cars?"
She thought I was being very rude! She thought that she was entitled to park how she wanted and that I was unreasonable even to ask. She thought it was more convenient for her to have lots of space to get her car out (I later noticed it was a SUV).
However, a nearby parent (and also the lollipop lady
) indicated quiet support for using the spaces considerately and she - very reluctantly -moved.
I'm curious though - AIBU - I shouldn't have asked her to move the car AINBU - it's reasonable to expect people just to take up 1 space with their car?
