Long post but some people don't mind or enjoy long posts (I do) Didn't want to revive a zombie thread. Please understand I understand that many people working in customer services are working hard, dealing with irrate customers and sometimes bullying managers. I have been there. It's why I remain polite even with unsolicited sales calls. If they left the job the would have problems claiming benefits as they would be deemed to have left a job voluntarily and there are too few decent jobs around. I get it.
But I have had some really grotty experiences. Some a while ago but lots recently.
Lately:
Weight Watchers. I have been a gold member for over four years. Loved my coach. She has now left. My husband tends to look through our joint statements because I have discalculia. He didn't realise WW had been charging me for a service I had cancelled and charging without my gold member discount as well. Called up.
Was told: its because you are so underweight and well under your goal. I am this is true but as I explained I did not remember signing anything that said they could randomly take money from my account for this especially as I was a meeting member and should have been charged by my leader if this was the case even though I don't ever recall these rules only the 5lb over goal not under but if they can provide proof of this agreement then fair enough. But they had also been sending me gold stars to celebrate my gold membership which was very confusing if they had actually suspended said membership. I had also never had mention of the suspension by my leader or WW who had my email address, home address and phone number. The guy was very rude and said well as you are clearly unhealthy and underweight you would need a doctors letter. Again I said please can you send a copy of the terms I signed that said I agreed to this and please don't make unsubstantiated medical advice or personal opinions on whether or not I am healthy.
They admitted that this was confusing. In the end I got a partial refund with a snotty email saying "we did overcharge you £100(ish) pounds. We are paying it back.
That was it. I didn't have the energy to chase the rest but no apology for overcharging me over £100 or for their rude comments. I am actually not underweight just the light side of healthy.
Another tried to upgrade with O2 over the phone. Contract is in my husbands name. Seven advisers, twenty codes and a dozen emails and still they couldn't figure out why it wasn't registered on the online form that the account existed whilst it did on their system and still no luck.
Went to an O2 shop yesterday. It was sorted in half an hour. Less. 😳
One from years ago: now exDH and I were regularly customers in our local subway with our young daughter. Polite staff no problems. Then we were served and said "no cheese (to a regular member of staff who had always been nice and very chatty) we have our own to add (you had to then 16yrs ago) we have become Vegans. She asked" the little girl too? " us" yes" her "well that's terrible, I don't agree with that at all"
Errm not everyone agreed (different times then) but we had gone in for a sandwich not her opinion on our beliefs or parenting. All we had said is "we have gone vegan" not push our beliefs on her. 😳
