Failed Mirena coil replacement

I have just had a second unsuccessful attempt to replace an old Mirena coil by the same doctor. The original coil was inserted 5 years ago and removed with no issues. I have now been left with no contraception other than the choice of going on the pill (which I really don't want to take due to previous side effects) and my heavy, painful periods have resumed after 5 years. The doctor has referred to a specialist clinic which has a waiting time of months as I am apparently a "difficult case". AIBU to call the my GP and ask that another doctor can give it a go to get it in? I appreciate that the doctor tried to fit it and couldn't manage it but I really don't understand how it was managed before with ease and this time it wasn't!

Worth giving them a call. Though some surgeries only have 1 gp or nurse whos trained to fit coils.

You could go to a GUM clinic, most have contraceptive nurses who fit coils.. The time between booking my appointment and having mine fitted was three days. Good luck
