AIBU to not have a clue what is going on in Line of Duty? **SPOILERS, PROBABLY **

I've watched every episode, from "Oops" to "Mother o' God!"

I would say my level of understanding is roughly that of a dog watching a game of tennis - I have a hazy grasp of, say, Ball! Humans throwing! Exciting! Maybe some sort of game...? but if I tried to join in on the telly addicts thread, I would just be running around yapping and getting underfoot, while they waited for me to go away.

I can't be the only one, surely? And are there any kind and patient MNers out there who can explain to me (ideally as though I'm four) I'm how everyone is seemingly connected to everyone else? (I do know who Ryan is, and Terry, and James Lakewell - but in his case only because I googled him. I can't remember anything about the people he was in cahoots with).

In particular:

That woman Steve had a sleepover with - where did she get the money and why did Steve know to go looking for it?
How does she know Ted again? And Steve?
Is she a goodie or a baddie?
Why are they (the OCG I guess?) bothering to frame Terry?
Who in the police is a baddie? (apart from Ryan, who I have cunningly sussed out)

Feel free to join me if you are also clueless and ashamed.

I don’t understand anything either. It just goes right over the top of my head despite my efforts to follow it - all of it since series 1 episode 1.

OK, I don't think I have much more understanding than you.

But that woman Steve slept with is the scouse undercover police man's wife from the last series (that Steve shot).

Hastings gave her the money (I think he was given it as part of the attempt to frame him). The suggestion (although might just be me) was that he might be the scouse undercover police man's dad.

Can't help you with the rest of it..!

The woman who Steve had a sleepover with is John Corbetts widow

We don't know if she's a goodie or baddie

Ted gave her the money - he had 100000 planted on him and only 50000 was found. That was at the end of season 5

Buckells is dodgy but not pulling any strings, the OCG have a hold over Jo but we don't know why yet

It looks like the actual occupant of the fLat was swapped with Terry so he's being used as a scapegoat

He was the policeman undercover with the OCG in series 5.

I want to rewatch the bloody thing from the beginning, but DH wants us to start watching something else that we won't understand either.

In the police who is a baddie - jo is certainly up to no good, albeit possibly being blackmailed.

I also think Chloe is up to no good.

He was given £100k as a bribe in the last season and only copped to half of it. He gave the other half to Steph from guilt as he found out her husband, the undercover cop who was killed, was the son of a woman who he failed to protect in NI (and maybe was in love with)
How does she know Ted again? And Steve?
Is she a goodie or a baddie? - she's a goodie I think. She and Steve fancy each other but can't do anything.
Why are they (the OCG I guess?) bothering to frame Terry? - they have used terry for years. He's just convenient I think?
Who in the police is a baddie? (apart from Ryan, who I have cunningly sussed out) - jo is definitely but we don't know about anyone else yet

Steve didn't shoot him, he had his throat cut. Steve refused to shoot him.

I'm clueless about a lot of it but still shout at the telly a lot when it's on - what's that all about?

He did, but not the scouse copper. He shot the sniper in the last episode and he shot the female bent copper who tried to kill Gill the dodgy lawyer

Clearly Steve is so wet that my brain instantly erases any instances of him doing something badass, as a defence mechanism.

He was undercover but he was on a wild goose chase after Dodgy Gill told him Hastings was H and exploited the fact that Hastings was connected to his mother's death to fire him up

Nobody on the telly addicts thread knows exactly what is happening. Some people have brilliant memories and some have done intensive forensic research, re watching previous series several times. Do join in there, we're all in the dark.

Steve has shot one person. The remake police officer who tried to stab Gill Bigglowe in the station bogs.

When Ted was in the RUC he had a friendship with John Corbetts mother who was killed by the IRA as a suspected police informant.

£100k was planted on Ted, he claims it was inky £50k and that is what was recovered. He felt guilty re John Corbetts mother so he gave the widow £50k. She’s now in hot water with the HMRC.
