Job worries

Hi all,

So I applied for the job that I am currently in around a year ago being in a particular sector of work unfortunately my probation is a year long so that is most likely coming up soon.

I saw a job advertised which is more money and something that I'd be very interested in, Within the same company that I am at currently..
I applied for it because I didn't think that I'd have anything to lose however now that the closing date For the job role is coming up any day, I find myself feeling really anxious that my current manager is going to feel differently of me, and the awkwardness between her and I, and my colleagues if I don't get this role.

I selected that they cannot ask her for a reference until I've potentially had or accepted an offer however I don't want that to appear dodgy to her.. I'm feeling so anxious!

I suppose I'm just wondering if you think I've done the right thing.. I do quite like my current role but took a very large cut pay-wise to come here, in the hopes for better job security snd happiness.
I don't know if I should pull my manager aside and be honest; and advise I've applied for another role in the same business.
I guess I'm worried that they might decide to just show me the door since they haven't passed my probation yet (meeting hasn't happened yet)

Are you sure they won't find out if it's the same company? If not I would say just keep quiet in this situation but if you think they might find out some other way then best to have a word yourself.

@Besom I would hope not but I suppose I can't be sure.. I'm not sure if I should be upfront and tell them..
If I were going for a role in a completely different company I'd never say any thing until I'm certain. I suppose I'm worried about not getting the role and then worrying that I will be 'let go of' when it comes to probation as I don't want it to appear that I don't like my current role!!
I just need to look into something with a larger wage otherwise I will have no choice but to go elsewhere, I can't pay all of the bills etc on what I'm on currently

How big is the organisation? Are they likely to know each other? It's the informal grapevine you need to worry about but if there is not an obvious connection between the managers you will probably be ok.

This is the important part. Honestly you're overthinking this way too much. If you get this gig then great! If not you would need to look for something else anyway. Whichever way it goes your current position is untenable. Try not to get too anxious about it - you've applied for a job which is very normal - it's not as though you've drunkenly declared your undying love for your manager which would be far more a tricky position to be in.
