Do I win the award for the longest and the shortest time to start an nhs job? First time round had my interview on the 8th March 2020 and started 11th September 2020

This time round, interviewed 24 March and start next week... ShockShock I was expecting a massive wait!! I gave my notice so I could work agency and make a bit of money and now my start date is the other side of the weekend after my last day!!

This is insane!!

Aren't you suspicious?

ThisMustBeMyDream · 15/04/2021 20:14

Both mine were 6 months, but would have been a bit quicker 2nd time, but I wanted it to be a certain date so dragged it out a bit extra.

orangegina · 16/04/2021 10:46

So they don't need to do all the background checks again as you only had them done last year?

sickofpainting · 16/04/2021 11:10

@orangegina no I had everything done again, dbs, occy health, references

DungeonKeeper · 16/04/2021 11:20

I had to wait 5 months when I moved Trusts. I often find it’s because HR don’t communicate.

sickofpainting · 16/04/2021 11:21

Name change flop there ah well!

tealandteal · 16/04/2021 11:58

When I joined it was a month but that was because I had a month's notice. About 2 weeks is the fastest I've seen depending on how quickly references come back (non clicnial role).

RudeAF · 16/04/2021 12:02

It’s hot much quicker since the DBS checks got more efficient. Presumably something to do with the annual update service. Every delay I’ve had with getting start dates has been criminal record checks!

Yes but the checks only delving into recent months, not your whole life. So quicker this time
