Marina Coil Removal

I had the Marina coil implanted when my son was born 34 years ago, and it was replaced every 5 years after that, for a total of 7 times. I have never had any problems with the coil, but I did experience extreme cramps for up to a week after insertion.

I've had extreme hot flushes, weight gain, night sweats, and other symptoms over the past 6 years, so I'm assuming I've gone through or am going through menopause.
I'm now 55 and have received a letter stating that my current coil will be removed, and not replaced,

I'm worried, apprehensive, about getting it removed; will I suddenly start having periods? Will I start having mood swings and any other signs I haven't had yet, (I haven't had any periods at all during this time)

Any suggestions before I head to the doctor for a blood test to see if I've gone through the transition?

My friend had hers removed at 56. She had awful symptoms, started to bleed and her moods were all over the place. They agreed to put one back. She also has Low dose HRT patches.

No issues at all here following the removal of mine at 54. I’m now 58 and had the first one in age 35.
Like you I was dreading it but fortunately I have been fine. Best of luck with it.
