Window cleaner

I don't pay for a window cleaning service so maybe IABU but would love to hear opinions.

We live in a terraced house that has a bay window at the front and a single upstairs window. A bird has managed to poo all over the upstairs window so when the window cleaner who services the street came by today, I popped out to ask him how much it would be for a quick one off clean.

He laughed and said he doesn't do one off cleans, he's far too busy. I said so for a fiver he couldn't just wash my one single upstairs window as I can't get to it. Absolutely not - acted as though I was totally ridiculous. He actually quite hurt my feelings tbh Blush it would only have taken about a minute to do, judging by how quickly he does other houses.

Is £5 to wash a single window unreasonable?

I pay £6 a month , 8 windows , front door and patio door and the ledges.

From what I know about my window cleaner he does about 50 windows a day and plans his routes accordingly , have you got a local Facebook group for your area you can ask for a one off?

I wish I was a window cleaner

Also in the North East OP, I pay £5 a month front windows and door only as I have an extension which would make cleaning the back upstairs windows difficult, 6 windows, front door and the door panels.

I was really lucky to be able to get a space with him, he wasn't taking on more customers but he used to do the house before I bought it so was happy to add me back as a regular, could just be that the window cleaner you met couldn't fit you in, even as a one off

Maybe he's had the experience I've had (as a gardener)

  1. you agree a quick one off job cheap....then it's "when you're here can you...'
  2. you do a one off, soon after it looks shit again, all the neighbours think you go regularly and so your not any good 3)the one off is really hard work. Six months later you're asked for another difficult one off I refuse all one off jobs now

Why do you think it only takes a minute to scrub dried on bird poo off of a window?
Why is this man in anyway obligated to relieve you of your problem?
Why do you think this man needs £5?
