AIBU to use tumble dryer?

I’ve a couple of days off. It’s lovely and sunny and we’ve got a backlog of washing. So two loads already out on the line. Problem is I’ve run out of space and pegs. So some simple stuff has now gone in the tumble dryer
DW is not happy with this. Says it’s a waste of electricity, the laundry isn’t as nice that way and I should have waited till tomorrow.
My view is we don’t know what the weather will be tomorrow, I don’t want to spend two days of leave on washing and I just want the job done. And if I’m sorting it all then does it really matter how I do it?

Wow! Absolutely I would be getting the washing done and not waiting around for other things to dry. YANBU you should not have to ask permission to dry things a certain way that’s just ridiculous.

If DW is unhappy with how you are doing it then maybe they should do it. I use a tumble dryer when it's sunny but unsure of if my washing will actually dry, or if when I bring it in it's a bit late and it feels damp, but we do have solar panels so the power is free.

Just do it. If she wants to fanny about waiting for space on the line, she can do the laundry.

I have to dry indoors and a second load has been in the machine ready to wash for 2 days as I'll have nowhere to dry it if I do it now as the first load is still drying all over the place. It's an absolute ballache. If I had a dryer I would just get that shit done!

Why have you got a tumble dryer, if not to dry clothes when necessary?

Pinkyavocado · 14/04/2021 12:12

I use my dryer all year round even if it’s baking hot out. Hate hanging out washing and then having to iron stuff I wouldn’t have had to if it had gone in the tumble dryer.

steff13 · 14/04/2021 12:15

I only ever dry clothes in the dryer.

BlackberrySky · 14/04/2021 12:17

I use my dryer for underwear all year round. Whilst I make every effort to use the outdoor line in the spring and summer, the dryer exists for when I want to use it. You have maximised your use of the line already so crack on with the rest in the dryer.

I always tumble anything which can be tumbled. never hang clothes out i cant bear line dried clothes

TheGlitterFairy · 14/04/2021 12:23

I prefer to hang clothes out on a line to dry but when there’s a backlog and nowhere to hang it, I use the dryer too. Your partner should be happy you’re doing the laundry not complaining about it!!

Please yourself what you do. You could hang some up on a clothes airer indoors. Finish it all off in the tumbler, it makes it smoother.
