Debenhams closing down

I went into my local Debenhams today and saw loads of nice stuff I'd like to buy. Having previously been in H & M next door and the changing rooms being open I thought maybe they'd be the same. Alas no...so all the clothes I'd collected from around the shop floor I decided I'd buy and try on and return any that didn't suit. ..but no! Strictly no returns either. How the hell are they gonna sell any of their stock ? AIBU to think this is just stupid? Especially when lots of the stock is winter stuff still.

why on earth would a shop that has gone into liquidation accept refunds? Do you not understand the term?

alltoomuchrightnow · 14/04/2021 23:21

I've worked in a few shops that went into liquidations. It's really, really horrible and demoralising for the staff.
You have to keep on being nice to customers when you just want to scream

@Billandben444

Nearly everything in the Stevenage store was 40% off yesterday and the queues to pay were horrendous so many don't agree with the OP. It's a liquidation sale basically and I'm very sorry for the staff who've lost their jobs. Oh, the loos were open and spotlessly clean which was a nice surprise.
I was driving past and wondered whether to go in or not. Quite glad I didn't bother then, because standing in a long queue in a mask makes me really twitchy and claustrophobic. I can walk round a shop ok because I can leave whenever I want to, but when I'm having to queue for a long time I start getting a bit panicky.

You want returns for a shop that is bankrupt/closing down. Are you kidding me lol 🤣🤣🤣

mooonstone · 15/04/2021 00:05

I’m not surprised about this. I swear this was the case before lockdown #3 too as they were already in the process of closing down

Billandben444 · 15/04/2021 06:21

To be fair to the OP, if I remember her post correctly, she was upset that the changing rooms weren't open and was unwilling to risk hard-earned cash on clothes that might not fit rather than their no-returns policy. Oh, and I didn't join the horrendous queue at Stevenage as I decided I could live without the few bits I'd picked up - it snaked round the store and some had full shopping trolleys.

People are losing their jobs and your complaining about not being able to try clothes on. Honestly!
